VODKA IS A clear distilled alcoholic beverage produced from fermented cereal grains, potatoes, corn, sugar cane, fruits, honey, and/or maple syrup.
Flavored vodka always requires proper kosher certification.
Unflavored vodka is acceptable unless the label states that it is produced from grapes, wine, milk, lactose, or whey. Vodka that is produced from any of these is not acceptable.
Very often, vodkas from France, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia are produced from one of the abovementioned problematic ingredients and these should be avoided unless one has clear knowledge that no such ingredients were used.
